Cat tracing
Before colouring, trace it. This is a dashed cat printed large for small hands: print it, follow the dots with a pencil, and the child ends up with a drawing they made themselves. Tracing the shape first is what builds pencil control, and it makes the colouring that follows a lot easier.

Tips for coloring cats
Cats are wonderfully easy to color because real cats come in every shade. Try classic ginger orange with white paws, a grey tabby with darker stripes, or go completely imaginative with a rainbow cat. Leaving the background white and coloring only the cat makes the design pop, while soft blues and yellows in the background give a cozy feel. If you color with markers, print on slightly thicker paper (cardstock) so nothing bleeds through; crayons and pencils are happy on regular printer paper.
Which cat should you print first?
For toddlers, start with the two easy designs, with extra-thick lines and big open areas made for first-time colorists. Kids around four to eight usually reach for the playful scenes: the yarn kitten, the cat in a box or the birthday cat. Older kids and grown-ups love the patterned cat, which colors like a mini mandala. Hosting a cat-themed party? Print a stack of the birthday kitty and you have an instant activity table.
