Christmas tree tracing
Before colouring, trace it. This is a dashed christmas tree printed large for small hands: print it, follow the dots with a pencil, and the child ends up with a drawing they made themselves. Tracing the shape first is what builds pencil control, and it makes the colouring that follows a lot easier.

Where can you find free printable Christmas tree coloring pages?
Right here. This page has 24 free Christmas tree coloring pages: decorating scenes, a branch full of ornaments, the star topper moment, presents under the tree and a bare tree to decorate yourself. Every design downloads as a crisp vector PDF for US Letter and A4, no sign-up and no watermarks, and every page can be colored online too.
Tips for coloring a Christmas tree
Give the tree more than one green: layering light and dark greens branch by branch instantly makes it look full and round. Then let the ornaments carry the color, one bright shade per bauble, with red, gold and blue doing most of the work. Leave the string lights white or pale yellow and add a soft halo of color around each bulb so they seem to glow. Metallic pens are wonderful on the star, the bells and the ribbons. If you use markers, print on slightly heavier paper so nothing bleeds through; crayons and pencils are happy on regular printer paper. More paper and printing advice lives in our how-to-print guide.
Design your own tree, then hang it up
The bare tree page is a little design studio: draw your own baubles, garlands and lights before coloring them, and no two trees ever come out the same. Finished pages make lovely free decorations, cut out the trees and tape them to windows and doors, or fold one in half for a homemade Christmas card. Teachers and parents can print as many copies as they like for class or home; the details are in our licensing policy. Hang a cookie on the branch too: our gingerbread man coloring pages include one tied to a fir branch with a ribbon, ready to cut out and loop over a twig. These trees are part of our full Christmas coloring pages, where Santa, the snowman, reindeer and elves are drawn in the same friendly style, and every celebration on the site gathers in our holiday coloring pages.
